“The last thing I need on a busy day is to be rebooting computers, or fixing corrupt files.”
When your business depends on hundreds of transactions every day you need hardware
and software that you can rely on. We began by carefully choosing a programming
language and operating system that would serve as the foundation of our software.
We also carefully chose programmers with a proven track record of writing efficient
and dependable software code. We then chose hardware that would stand up to the
rigors of the carwash retail environment. The result is a product you can rely on.
About Java
Our software is written in the programming language of JAVA. This language
has several advantages:
It can be run on any platform.
Such as Windows, Linux,
web browsers, mobiles devices, etc. That means we can grow as technology grows
without rewriting the entire program.
It’s object oriented.
This allows us to write modular software. It’s more reliable because if you
change a line of code, you only effect that module (or object) instead of the
entire program.
About Linux
The operating system (OS) we have chosen for the POS is Linux (made popular
by IBM). This has several clear advantages:
It’s more secure.
Most viruses
were designed to attach the Windows OS and do not harm Linux machines.
It also has fundamental features to help keep your software safer.
It’s more usable.
Linux allows you to only use the parts of the OS that you need.
That means we can get rid of the stuff we don’t need so that the software is
less bloated. This helps make it faster and less likely to crash than Windows.
Hardware
While affordability is a cornerstone of our, “simple is better” philosophy we
did not sacrifice quality on hardware. For example, we chose a basic cash drawer
because a more expensive one doesn’t really add any value. However, when it comes
to the touchscreen monitor we use the very best unit on the market because it is far
superior to cheaper models.
